The lack of a common formula among professionals and scholars for the study of applied brocades has led the European working group of specialists in polychrome sculpture to define a standardized procedure for examination, registration and graphic representation that allows a deeper understanding of this delicate and fragile technique.

This article presents three sculptural works in Gipuzkoa, Spain/Basque Country), in which the presence of the polychrome technique of applied brocade had not been detected to date. These are the altarpieces of the Oratorio de Loiola (1498-1512) and San Martín de Azpeitia (1521) and the carving of the Virgin and Child of Zumaia (ca. 1500).
In the article we analyse five European Conservation and Storage centres that house collections from different museums created in the last two decades. Among them is Gordailua, Centre for Heritage Collections of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, located in Irún.

Albayalde, gracias a la financiación de los fondos René et Karin Jonckheere, gestionados por la Fundación Rey Balduino (Bruselas), restaurará tres esculturas flamencas pertenecientes al Retablo de los Santos de Covarrubias (s.XV). La intervención sobre la caja y las otras dos esculturas del retablo, será costeada por la Junta de Castilla y León.
